photo booth

this past sunday we made it to the fair. we go every year. i usually have only one thing on the agenda and that is the photo booth. the rest is left up to what the others want to do, but it is a must that we visit the photo booth. we have been doing this since before we were married and honestly it's the only annual family photo we take. i cherish these photos, so much that i frame them and hang them in our home. they show are true personalities. craziness, silliness, and all that fun stuff we are about. it's never a chore to get us there. we never fuss about what we are wearing, if we match, our if hair is out of place. it's spontaneous. (besides the fact that we do it every year and we know we are going to do it. does that make sense?) we all love to look at them as we walk through the fair and when we get home. we all laugh at each other and our funny faces. it's always about making good memories and traditions. i have to say we have accomplished that again this year. take a look...

we will be attending the fair again before it's over and yes we will be back at the photo booth taking pics with my mom and my sister and her kiddo's. i am hoping also to sneak one in with just garebear and me (he couldn't handle it anymore) because that's just what we do when we go to the fair.

my mom

my mom never lets me take pictures of her. if i try to she puts her hand in front of her face or makes a goofy face. but, a few weeks ago she celebrated her 68th birthday and for some reason she let me snap some photos of her. she did put up a fuss at first. but, when i explained to her that i wanted pictures of her for and with my kids, she softened up and let me snap a few. if any of you know my mom she is quite the character. she always has been. she even started to strike a pose on a few. take a look...

this was the first one

then she tried to do some pose she heard about on tv to get rid of her double chin

with her only granddaughter

with her 3rd grandson

i love this pic even though i am not sure what the little miss is looking at and why my little fella has his arm hanging out of his shirt

finally, to end our photo shoot the little miss took the camera to get this one of me and my mom

if you haven't taken a picture with your mom lately, do so the next time you see her. it's something you'll treasure forever.

chinatown-red+turquoise+yellow=love

i have been wanting to do this post for awhile, but time is just not on my side lately. i've been busy with this, and taking care of these and getting ready for a celebration for him and at the end of the day i just don't have time to do this - blog. but here i am and here it goes. a few weeks ago we went on an adventure to chinatown with our homeschool group. this was the first time i have ever been. i have lived in southern california my entire life and have never been to chinatown and the reason for this is because i don't like going to LA. i know crazy, right? but it's just too busy and crowded and i drive a vanagon and i don't want to break down in LA with two kiddo's. thankfully the mister went on this adventure with us and we all had a super fun time. i really enjoyed our time together as a family, as a group, and for a little bit, by myself. i fell in love with all of the colors. i have always loved red, i have been falling in love with turquoise, and yellow has just been one of my all time loves. so i snapped a lot of photos while we were there and here are a few of them...

the classic sign at the entrance to the plaza

red lanterns were everywhere.
i am not sure if they are always there
or just because it was so close to
the chinese new year

i told you i love red,
so when my kiddo's stand
next to red i take lots of pics

i love the contrast between the red + turquoise

decorations for the new year

these two are pretty cute

more red + turquoise

my beloved yellow

and this mister was just such
a fashionista with his
turquoise pants + black velvet sports coat
oh and his hat - love it!

lots of colors on all of the sidewalk shops

my favorite sign in front of the phoenix bakery

i'm not sure why, but i just like this photo
maybe because everything is just so random and cut off

this was hanging from the ceiling in the bakery

red + turquoise + yellow = love

a new years offering

our chinatown goodies

so, friends if you have never done the chinatown adventure, i highly recommend it. it was such a fun day and maybe something i might just do again.

today he's two

two years ago today our little fella came into our lives.
it was such a happy day for our whole family.
this little guy continues to bring us happiness everyday.
he is such a joy to be around even when he is being the ornery
little stinker that he is. i am so thankful to be his mama,
i can't imagine my life without him and look forward to being
his mama for the rest of my life. i love you little fella.
here are a few of my favorite photo's from the last two
years of his life. happy birthday big boy...
